大学時代、病院でのボランティア勤務の期間最終日の話です。一番最初に登録に行った場所へ挨拶で立ち寄りました。ランチのチケットを渡されました。半分びっくりと、半分ショックでした。「毎回来たときは、帰りにこちらに寄ってね」の意味は、このランチのチケットをくださるためでした。ボランティアをすると毎回ランチが無料で食べれたのです。食堂を見渡すと、ボランティアらしき方、特に高齢のボランティアさんが楽しそうに仲間たちとランチをしている姿を見ました。仕事のたびに、こちらに立ち寄っていれば、チケットを使って好きなものを好きなだけ取って食べることができていたので、急いで帰宅して昼の支度をして、急いで食べて、慌てて授業に行かなくてもよかったということなのです。残念！でもこれはいい仕組みだなと思いました。この最終日、私はサンドイッチやドリンク、そしてフルーツなどをありがたくいただきました。
This is a short story on the last day of my hospital training period when I was a college student. I stopped by the registration office of the hospital to thank and say goodbye. It was half surprising and half shocking as I received a lunch coupon. I realized that “Stop by every time after work” told at the beginning meant I would have received a free lunch each time I came to volunteer. With this coupon, I could have eaten anything I wanted. In the cafeteria, I had seen many seniors enjoy talking over lunch. They looked like volunteers. If I had known this, I would have stopped by and had a free lunch every time. I didn’t have to rush home, cook, eat and rush to a school class. I regretted it a bit, but I thought the idea was great. On this last day, I thanked and received some sandwiches, drinks, and fruits.
