2019年秋。千葉県南、南房総方面では家屋が飛ばされるなどの、大きな台風被害がありました。他のエリアでも台風による大規模停電や、木が倒れて道をふさぐなど、様々の被害がありました。私が所属していた東北復興応援ボランティアのグループが解散していたこともあり、私はすぐに千葉県に目を向けました。災害のときは、力を貸したいと思っても、すぐに現地入りできるとは限りません。逆に迷惑になることもあるからです。この台風被害の時は、屋根にブルーシートを張ることができる人が一番に求められました。たくさんの家屋が一部または半壊、全壊など、飛ばされてしまったからです。といってもボランティアのほとんどは素人で、技術者は多くはありません。でもそのときは、とにかくブルーシートで家をおおうことが重要とされていました。技術のない人でも、教わりながらでも協力した方はたくさんいたようです。
In autumn 2019, big typhoons blew up many houses in the south of Chiba. In other areas also had damages of the blackout, trees were fallen on the streets, etc. The Tohoku disaster relief volunteer group I belonged to stopped the activities at that time, and therefore, I turned my eyes towards Chiba. However, it is not easy to step into the disaster area even if I wanted to help. Sometimes, it could cause trouble. At these typhoons, many houses were blown partially, half-blown, and full-blown. Therefore, the most wanted people were experts in covering the rooftop of houses with plastic sheets. Unfortunately, however, most volunteers were not experienced in the field, although many people needed the help. Therefore, many non-experienced were willing to learn and help to cover the roofs.
